Treasure Chest
by Miles H. Rost
A summer day, and the sound of kids playing filled the air.
This day, it was an adventure. The youngest kid impersonating Sherlock Holmes, the middle kid pushing the swing while the oldest imagined she was a pilot.
After the “flight” was over, they all ran around the quarter acre of property, looking for the treasure that their mother hid earlier that day.
They peered in a hole in the tree. Nothing.
They searched the camper. Nothing.
Finally, the middle kid spotted the box under a rhubarb plant.
They opened the box, and found… condiments.
“KIDS! DINNERTIME! BURGERS!”
“YAY! BURGERS!”
Yay homemade burger’s and relish, mouth watering,
A great memory of childhood, for sure.
Smart mom, Well written–I was right there with those kids 🙂
So was I. In fact, I was the youngest in this case.
Great little story. Enjoyed it.
A little piece of reality for everyone to enjoy
Great story, and imaginatively creative mum!
My mom was very much a creative person. I appreciate her more and more each day for it.
The perfect finish to their fun-filled day! Simply delightful.
Here’s mine!
A great way to keep a bunch of younger kids occupied for hours.
As a child, I loved a treasure hunt with my brothers. Nice fun story!
Same with mine. 🙂
Wonderful family time story. The stuff cherished memories are made of.
There’s a boatload of those, though sometimes they get harder to remember as the years go by. At least they’re imprinted on the heart.
