(Author’s Note: Do you know how sore a person can get if they have not actually gone to a gym and exercised properly? Well, I’m that guy. Arms are about as sore as can be. But, you know what? It’s worth it. In 6 months, in 1 year, I will be further in shape. This is good for a writer. And, further, Happy Independence Day. To all veterans who fought for our freedom: We cannot owe you enough. There is not enough in this world to give that makes up for the years you sacrificed. Take honor in what you have done. Here’s the fictioneers!)

Life Is A Lemon…
by Miles H. Rost
Gasps so loud, they silenced everything else.
The protesters outside the conference center couldn’t believe what they saw.
A college-aged woman had walked through their line, stood in front, and took off her leg.
Cherry strands of hair glided across her face as a breeze came through.
She stood there, hands stretched to the side, on one leg.
For 5 minutes, no one moved. No one did anything. They just stood and stared.
She smiled, looking around.
“I think y’all got the point,” she said, as she put her leg back on.
She put her pant leg down, and walked away.
A lovely surreal moment
One that I have actually seen happen. The young lady this is based on got her leg blown off in Iraq. She’s now a big fighter for unrestricted speech within repressed countries (like China).
Wow, how to make an impression
Yep. She definitely did.
What were they protesting? Maybe it really was something that will mess you up more than missing a leg.
You get to put your imagination into it! But listen to the music, and see what comes from it!
A powerful piece of imagery, well executed … brava!!
Thank ya! ^_^
Well done!
Thank ya! ^_^
I think this would make an impression… somehow you always judge people by first impression.
For some, it’d be a great impression. For others, it’d be an indicator that they’re someone they don’t like but don’t want to mess with.
Strength of spirit shines through this one.
Oh, she has a lot of it. BELIEVE you me.
She captured their attention for sure.
She’s known to do that. ^_-
This reminds me of the protests supporting the passage of the Americans with disabilities act. People who normally went around in wheelchairs crawled up the 83 stone steps to the US capitol building. It certainly made an impact then! Nice description of disbelief!
Yep! Sometimes it takes a display of sheer will to actually show things in perspective.
Well done that lady!

Agreed!
She certainly got her point across in style.
It’s the only way she knows how to.
Point made well! Great write!
She definitely makes points like that all the time.
She is fab! Great piece.
She definitely is.
A bold step. Great write.
Bolder than me, that’s for sure.
