(Author’s note: Still working on the story. Been dealing with some things that have come up since. A little under the weather with a throat infection. Getting better, though.)

Reflections (On The Lake)
by Miles H. Rost
Paul Marcus looked over the lily-pad covered lake, deep in thought.
“Where did the time go? Not long ago, I was 24 and full of spirit. Now I’m 35 and broken.”
He looked at the small bobs coming up from the lake, stirring a pad or two.
He thought back to the opportunities that were there, that he missed because he was focused on one dream. A one track mind, and that track derailed a year before.
Sitting back in a chair under the shade of a gazebo, he looked at his watch.

“6 more hours until I need to be home.”

Gentle story. I enjoyed reading it. Lovely music too! Do you have any back story on that?
Back story on the music? Well, I’ve always loved the Weather Channel. Used to watch it all the time, and the music made a major difference for me. And I found some of it on youtube, recently. And seeing the lonely platform made me think of reflecting on life.
Thanks. I did check on Youtube too (and spotify) The prompt made me reflect too …
A sad tale and you can feel the sense of regret in the words, of how life has passed and he feels he’s wasted it. Great story 🙂
I like your story and do hope you feel better soon.
Intriguing, and makes me wonder what his one dream was?
A lot of regret here.
Bah, there’s never only “one dream”.

Great reflections, it’s good to do that, but maybe he can get over it and focus what he did achieve. I’m sure there is something, even unexpected.
