Everything You Want
by Miles H. Rost
He sat alone, his back to a bush, overhearing some of the young folk.
“I’m really pumped up by his ideas!”
“Yeah, he’s got this new way of doing things that’s really awesome.”
“I like our current one, but this new guy’s got fire.”
The young man looked out at the world, listening as they gushed. As they walked away, he sighed and looked out at the rest of the world.
Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He looked and saw a mousy brunette staring at him through stylish glasses.
“I still think you’re the best pastor, Pastor Bob.”
He smiled, as she walked away.
Very nice!
Is it from experience that you are speaking?
I’m not a pastor. *chuckle* But, mostly it’s a reflection of what I see in the world: A lot of people going for the flashy and new, but not realizing that the one they had before was just as good if not better.
That is so true Miles.
That’s because most people want a new thrill every time!
Sometimes people just crave new things when the old still functions to perfection.
Such is life.
That was well done mousy brunette. And well done Miles, for I could see the scene, but picked the wrong Pastor.🙂
Oh I do like this… we need both the new, and the reliable… wonderful take.
This has a great reflection on the world today. Like all this Pokemon Go craziness…looking at the phone, not seeing the world.
Poor old pastor Bob. It’s true how quickly the good and reliable are forgotten for the shiny new.
