Dancing On A High Wire
by Miles H. Rost
“This is the craziest idea you ever had,” Martin whispered.
“Well, you wanna get out of this place or what?”
Thor Torgerson didn’t wait for an answer, as he quietly opened the tower door. Deftly, he subdued the two guards and looked down at his pathway.
A long, thin, razor wire fence.
“You want me to walk on that?!” Martin blanched.
“You want your freedom? Wanna get back at the university folk who put you in prison?”
Martin looked at Thor, his desire for revenge getting the better.
“Hell yes.”
“Then let’s get walking.”
Martin grabbed the railing, lowered himself onto the concertina wire…
My feet hurt from reading this…
Interesting idea of revenge..good luck. Nice one.
Painful, desperation will drive people to the extreme. Enjoyed your story
Revenge is costly every time!
Oh, that sounds painful! My feet hurt thinking about it!
Revenge drives people to doing the strangest things. My feet hurt, too.
I love the words ‘concertina wire’—what a vivid image! And a lovely way to end it. It feels optimistic to me, to end it this way, with us not knowing if he makes it, but hoping. I also love the ‘hell yes’ earlier—it gives me a great sense of how badly Martin has been treated, and how much he wants to make it across that wire.
