Wine Night
by Miles H. Rost
Waiters always look, and Andrew Cavasa was no different.
As a supervising waiter, he had to be out on the floor to watch employees and patrons alike, and judge performance in his notetaking.
Snatching up the wine glass on table 12, he recalled the quartet of teachers who put down 2 bottles of 2012 Chateauneuf du-Pape. He chuckled at the redhead teacher that seductively danced to the smooth jazz that provided the atmosphere. He never knew teachers like that in school.
It was these small deviations of the day that made his job worth the while.
He liked to watch.
Sensuous and a litte creepy
That’s just a typical evening in a medium-high end restaurant in LA.
I did kinda write him a bit creepily now that I look at it. I think I was aiming more for the “always observant” person, because we all know that one type who just watches everything. The “scribe” as I call them.
I can see her dance when I listen to the music, a perfect fit.
The music really does add that extra dimension.
Watching is good. Coveting teachers, maybe not. 🙂
I think it less of coveting and more… verbalizing what many Gen X students once thought.
You’re right about the music. Definitely enhances the mood 🙂
A great snapshot of life,
That could have been me back in the day!
A jobs got to have some perks, but I will stick to whiskey,
Perfect job for a voyeur. Good story.
Tabletop dancing…I had thought of that as well. Maybe I can pull out story#3 before Wednesday night lol Your story, A waiter that watches…I’m glad the customers are giving him something to look at. Good take on the prompt!
