(Author’s Note: Wahoo! Another week! For those who wrote related to my photo last week, I will be dropping comments this week. Thank you for all the creativity, and I cannot wait to actually respond properly. As for me…here’s this week’s work!)

I’ll Let You Drive
by Miles H. Rost
“Alright, Hye-Jin, put the car in reverse and slowly back out.”
Cho Hye-Jin moved her shaking hand to the gearshift, and put it in reverse. Slowly, she pressed on the accelerator, yet the car still lurched.
“It’s okay, Hye-Jin. It’s your first day. We’re not expecting perfection.”
She took a quick breath, and slowly maneuvered the car backwards. She put on brakes and shifted into drive.
“Okay, now turn right out of–“
A blaze of tabby orange.
The squealed meow across the hood of the car.
The push of a gas pedal.
*CRASH*
“Wangjiangnim…”
“Yes?”
“I let you drive”
Cats and cars are a bad combination.
They can do wonders for giving you PTSD…
I think a fair few of us have crashed to avoid animals. Good story!
In her case, it was crashing because of the animal. XD
That happens too. Especially when a pheasent smashes through your windscreen!
It takes so little for first-timers!
Took me 3 times to get my driver’s license.
Some have it harder than others 🙂
What a bad experience for the first drive. Well told, it felt like being in the car with them.
Don’t tell my sister… >_>
i guess she had enough lessons for the day. 🙂
For a lifetime, lemme tell ya…
Cat-astrophic (pardon the pun!) That’s enough to put someone off driving for life!
Here’s mine!
It most certainly would!
Damn cats, just as well reallyas her confidence seemed shot.
Yeah, she’s getting other people to drive her places.
Nicely told, Miles. The dialogue was particularly well done.
Thank you! 😀
Better to learn to drive out in the middle of nowhere or in a gigantic parking lot — without cats!
Yep. I learned out on the mean back roads of Central Minnesota. Quite a different experience.
By mean back roads, do you mean washboards and mud challenges? We get those in MI.
Cats, love ’em but they can’t half be a nuisance at times
You got that right!
