Black Betty (Ram A Lam)
“I remember when I picked that one up. I was out one night with a beauty named Betty. We were about to head back to my place, when this ram came out of nowhere. It wasn’t even a moment after I saw it that I blacked out.”
“What happened next?”
“Well, after I woke up, the ram was dead. My truck was also totaled, and Betty was walking around with a major league concussion. I called up my friend Earl and got him to pick me and the ram up. Betty walked home.”
“What did you do after that?”
“Well, I mounted the ram at the taxidermist and got the head home. I then went to see Betty, and her face was bruised. And that’s everyone now calls her Black Betty.”
Genius π
Ooooh clever … grooaan! I must confess I paused to dwell on the mental picture of the events taking place at the taxidermist but I got through… Well done.
Poor Betty, having to walk home even when the dead ram got picked up. π I love that song, nice use of it.
Well played! The title pulled me right in and I was not disappointed!
I liked it too. And now we know the rest of the story (as Paul Harvey would say) about the origin of Betty’s blackness.
Or in this case, her black and blueness.
Ah, so that’s how that song came about!
Dear Miles, I really liked your story and Black Betty shouldn’t have had to walk home while the ram got a ride. Good story! The song was good too! Nan π
Miles, Fun story and well written. Poor Betty. I agree with Nan that she should have been able to ride home. Earl wasn’t much of a gentleman if he wouldn’t give her a lift. π¦ At least Betty healed which was more than the ram could do. Well done and I enjoyed the music. I’ll drop over and read your other story. π —Susan
Poor Betty – but if he is so egoistic that he goes by car with the ram and let the girl walk home, may be it is better for her the night ended not at his place π .from now on I always think of your story when I hear this song , Really great.
